About The Yokocho Post
The Yokocho Post is an independent publication about Tokyo nightlife and going-out — written for the people who stay past the last train. Expats finding their footing, the travellers who'd rather drink where locals drink, and the residents who already know which alley is worth the wait. Our beat is the yokocho, Tokyo's postwar drinking alleys, and the living nightlife of the neighbourhoods around them: what's opening, what's closing, where the regulars went, and how to be a good guest in a six-seat bar.
What we cover
Bars, izakaya, late-night food, neighbourhood drinking, and the etiquette that makes a night out work. We write from the counter, not the press release — naming the street, the master, and the actual price of a skewer. We take positions, we respect the rooms we write about, and we never invent a place that doesn't exist.
How we work
Every article is written and reviewed by our editorial team before it is published. When a piece involves a paid partnership, we say so — clearly, on the article and on the site. See our Disclosure for the full policy.
